A good portion of the patients requiring anesthesia is taken care of by the Division of Anesthesia and General Intensive Care Medicine, be it in one of the 36 operating rooms, the four recovery rooms, the polytrauma center, the delivery room, one of the numerous interventional- or diagnostic suites or in one of the seven ICUs.
Patients requiring cardiac-, thoracic- or major vascular surgery or those being treated in the Bernhard Gottlieb University Hospital or in a few other remote sites are typically covered by our colleagues from the two other anesthesiology divisions.
The Division of Anesthesiology and General Intensive Care Medicine directs 3 ICUs (13C1, 13C2, 13C3). In addition we codirect 4 more ICUs in cooperation with our surgical colleagues (9D, 13B1, 13I1 und Neurosurgical ICU).
