Research Project to develop a Pilot-Postgraduate-Program in Digital Medicine
A pilot postgraduate program in digital medicine is to be developed as part of an EU project. This is intended as further training for graduates of medicine or other medical training programs and will deal with the most important applications of digital data processing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, robotics and the Internet of Things in the healthcare sector. The pilot ULG aims to improve higher education for healthcare professionals in digital skills and deepen understanding of the design, use and development of digital technologies.
Digital health applications have significant growth potential and are one of the areas with the strongest societal demand for digital professionals. The pilot postgraduate program presented is intended to help close this gap as part of an international course.
Students will have the opportunity to choose between 2 specializations with different focuses:
- Data Expert in Health
- Technologies for Digital Health
In the DS4Health project there are a total of 3 tracks, hence the names Track 1 and 3. The Medical University has decided to combine the above-mentioned tracks. At other universities of the DS4Health project, however, it is also possible to complete Track 2 (Digital Health Transformation).
We would like to point out that we are still in the development and set-up phase of the project and that these are not an existing postgraduate program or course.
DS4Health
This pilot-postgraduate-program is being developed as part of an EU Commission-funded project called "DS4Health". Each year, numerous students from all partner institutes (RWTH Aachen University, Tel Aviv University, Institute Polytechnic De Paris, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, University of Ioannina) of the international DS4Health consortium are trained to become new specialists in digital healthcare. Each university places importance on individual specializations in the curriculum, but a common basic framework should allow students to transfer between universities. This will significantly expand the already established EU-wide digital medicine programs through modular, collaborative curricula. The identification of needs, understanding of medical and procedural needs in healthcare as well as processes and interoperability are key elements. The pilot-postgraduate-program aims to provide more opportunities for students to be trained in advanced technologies with a clear view of the digital transformation of healthcare towards a clinical digital ecosystem.
